The
story behind Ultra-Trimnex:
Hoodia is a flowering plant belonging to
the plant family Apocynaceae. The hoodia plants are “stem succulents”,
described as "cactiform" because of their remarkable similarity to the
unrelated cactus family. They can reach up to 1 m high and have large
flesh colored flowers, with a potent smell.
There are Many different species of
hoodia and most are species are protected plants, typical of the Namib
Desert, ranging from Central Namibia to southern Angola.
 One species of
hoodia, indigenous to the kalahari desert in South Africa is the species
known to suppress the appetite. This knowledge is nothing new. The
Bushmen of the Kalahari, featured in the movie, “The Gods Must Be
Crazy.”, and known for their slim physiques, have used hoodia to
suppress their appetites on long hunting expeditions for ages.
In the late 1970’s, the CSIR (South African Council for
Scientific and Industrial Research) isolated the ingredient in hoodia
(now known as P57) responsible for this appetite-suppressant effect and
patented it. The CSIR then granted a license to a UK based company and
they collaborated with the pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer to isolate the
active ingredients from the hoodia extracts to synthesize them for use
as an appetite suppressant. Pfizer released the rights to the primary

How
it works
 These
active agents in hoodia work to send the hypothalamus in the brain a
signal to show that the stomach is full.
This signal is sent by releasing a chemical compound which is similar to
but much more powerful than glucose. This chemical signal prompts
the brain to turn off the “appetite switch”. The brain is essentially
tricked into thinking that the stomach has eaten enough, and stops you
from wanting to eat any more.
The
studies
 Nineteen
overweight but otherwise healthy volunteers were randomly allocated to
receive either P57 (hoodia extract) or placebo twice daily for 15 days.
Eighteen subjects completed the study (nine subjects in each of the P57
and placebo groups). Assessments recorded during the study included
daily calorie intake, body weight and body fat content. The primary
endpoint compared the average daily calorie intake between the groups
for the last three days of dosing. Blood samples were also obtained for
routine analysis of safety parameters and pharmacokinetic profiling of
this orally administered agent.
Preliminary data indicate that there was a statistically
significant reduction in the average daily calorie intake of the P57
group compared with the placebo group (p= 0.014). Preliminary data also
indicate a statistically significant reduction in body fat content in
the P57 group compared with the placebo group at the completion of
dosing (p=0.035).
No serious adverse effects were experienced by any of the subjects,
and the safety data are consistent with a satisfactory overall safety
profile. The pharmacokinetic data confirm that the systemic exposure
to biologically active constituents of P57 was consistent with the
observed clinical effects.”
